I really hope a lot of you have time to do the task for March. Please, leave a message here if you can take part - or tell me by mail (eva.rekkedal@odda.kommune.no) - within the 8th. of March.
On Monday the 9th. of March I'll summarise, and publish which countries/states we have to put into our presentations.
If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to contact me!
As I said somewhere else, I promise to have American Community School at Beirut, Lebanon participating in March.
I just signed up for the SlideSix and tried to upload a few little PowerPoints. With each one, I received a note that an error had occurred, but I'll keep trying.
Hi, Barbara!
I don't know what could have caused your error. Could you send me your PowerPoint, so I can try and see if everything is alrigth with that?
What OS do you have? (Win XP/Vista/Mac), and which browser do you use? (Internet Explorer/Mozilla/others?)
To Barbara; I've been in contact with the Slidesix-team - here's the answer I got from them:
Hi:
Ocassionally PPTX files can not be converted. Can you try saving it as PPT or PDF and uploading it?
Thanks,
Todd
Was this maybe your problem? You can still send me your file, so I can try to find out what's causing your problem (along with some details, which I mentioned above)
They were little test type PowerPoints and I will try saving them in ppt; they were saved as pptx files. I had this trouble with another uploading site, so I figured this was the same. I read that it uploaded the pptx files, so I thought I'd try it.
SlideSix supports a ton of different presentation formats:
* PPTX (PowerPoint 2007)
* PPT/PPS (PowerPoint 97/2000/XP)
* PDF (Adobe Acrobat)
* ODP/SXI (Open Office)
* MOV (QuickTime)
What OS do you have? (Win XP/Vista/Mac), and which browser do you use? (Internet Explorer/Mozilla/others?) I use Win XP with Internet Explorer at school, but at home I'm usually more comfortable on my Mac (OS X (Version 10.4.11) with Mozilla Firefox. I do have the Win XP/IE option at home, too, but rarely use it. )
I hope it is only the pptx-problem that caused your error. I also read the tool could handle this format, so I understand very well why you used that version;o)
I am so frustrated; first I was happy to get audacity for my mac but now I can´t convert the bloody thing in to mp3. I got the lame-thing but it refuses. It took about 1 hour to record the kids so I won´t do that again on the PC.
I will be late this month! With february´s task. But it will come I promise!!!!!
Hi Eva! Thanks!! I will try to send it to you but when I sent it with mail so that I could open it in my PC it wouldnt open. Do I have to send it with the back up file as well???? What mail adress should I use?
And you know, this is Feb task. As I am only in my class wed to friday I have a hard time to make march task tll the ninth. But we are on it!!!
Dear Karin!
As you now know, I couldn't open your file from Audacity (.aup), so probably there were something missing, but the other file was ok (except, it has only one word there; February) - if you're able to send the rest of your recording for this task, just pass it over and I'll convert them for you!
By the way, you shall not finish the March task within the 9th, only confirm that you'll participate - so we will count your country in when we do the task (makes a slide for Sweden).
I have Audacity on both my Mac and PC. I know there's something that is needed to convert to MP3, but I couldn't get it to work on my Mac and I've been too lazy to have the IT department install what's needed at school. So, I use another program to convert the .wav file to MP3. It's an additional step, but it works.
Barbara (ACS Beirut)
We didn't do the February Task. I guess I should at least look at what it was. I do learn a lot of new things from Voices of the World!
