Suggestion for the March task

Hi, everybody!
Hope you're soon finished with the task for February, and would like to discuss the next task;o) - my pupils will finish the February task on Friday - just before they go on Winter Holiday for a week. I would therefore like to discuss the next task now.

I just got one idea. Is it possible that we say our words for our/your country this month (e.g. If 15 countries "sign up" for the March task - then each of us have to pronounce the name of the 15 countries as we say in our own language)? It could be fun, and useful, to know how others pronounce our name of the country.

Then we could also illustrate each slide (one for each participation country) of how we think it looks like there (e.g. Greece - very sunny, typical place to go on holiday, at least for us up in the north, and so on); our picture/imagination of how we think the spesific country is/or something that we think is typical for that country (cultural awareness).

If we go for this kind of task, we should put a limit of when everybody have to sign up. I suggest that we must say no/yes to March task (PS Only if we choose to do the "country-task") within March the 8th. (Sunday, I believe).

What tool should we use? The easiest would be to use a slideshow-tool - please suggest one, people;o)

I believe we must improve pupils and teachers 'abilities' together..
I liked very much last year the way of each month a new tool!

Slidestory could work (new tool), but it looks like there is only version for Windows computers - and we have some partners with only Mac...
I loved to use a new tool each month last year, but our problem now is to find "undiscovered" available tools which will fit our critearias (picture, sound either directly recording or uploading files).
We have to look around, all of us;o)

another thought could be..

1./some of us to look for ideas-tasks ( I still support the idea to be someway interactive among our schools)

2./ some of us to look for new web.2.0 tools for windows and mac.

Permalink Reply by Eva Rekkedal on February 23, 2009 at 8:06pm: One idea (because I also would like to be interactive); we could use Voicethread again - and then for the next months task pick out two-three countries Voicethread and try to say their words for the different names of the countries (to be sure that no one was left out, we could make a list/system for whom to interact with). Or we could interact on everybodies Voicethread, but just the picture with our name/country on?
Maybe I've explained myself badly above. I'll try to make to examples of what I meant:
1. NN-country has to interact on USA, Greece and Pakistan - and try to say each countries name in their languages (oops, if there are many contributors this month, it would be a lot of words to say in three different languages - maybe to difficult, then - but depends on how many will go for theese tasks)
2. NN-country has to interact on everybodies Voicethread, but only of the picture/name of NN-country (maybe this would be the best; learn to say our country's name in many languages;o)

I've been looking around for slide tools today, but have just found a copple (both win/mac) and they're only demos/trials for about 30 days (we would prefer tools which we can use again and again for free, aren't we?).

But the only "interactive thing" is that you can add comments on the presentations to each other - I think we have to this on the Slidesix site.

Anyway, here is a test of the tool:
