Instructions for the February task

A: Make a PowerPoint (presentation), with a slide for:
1. Your school (name and location) – illustration/picture (your language)
2. January – illustration/picture and text ”January” (your language)
3. February – same as above
4. March etc.
Then you’ll have 13 slides, and are ready to record your Voices of the World;o)
NB! Save as 2003-version; PowerPoint 97-2003 (MyPlick is not able to handle 2007-version, yet).

B: Use Audacity to record your voice(s). Export as an mp3-file. Your choice either you let one pupil read all the words/text, or if you let 13 of them do it. NB It is important that you instruct them to talk clear and slowly, AND let it be a few seconds break before they read in the word for the next slide (then it’ll be a lot easier to sync the audio with the slides in MyPlick, I forgot… so I had to “take the punishment”).
If you’ve never used Audacity before – please let me know, and I’ll give you instructions (free Audio program, download at:http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)

It is a very easy program to use for our purpose.

C: Go to MyPlick (myplick.com) and register/open an account (if you don’t already have one).
Click on the Browse-button for Upload Slide (ppt.pdf…) – then hit the Browse-button for Upload Audio (mp3…). Click on the Publish-button (Done). Wait…;o)
When you see the message: Upload succeeded. (Add more information about the plick here) – then click on ”here” for filling in some more details.

Fill in tags: votw, months, 2009
Fill in: Description (not sure if that one’s maybe optional)
Allow download: I suggest we say No
Category: Education
Language: if not listed, specify your own
Then hit the Save plick-button below.

C: Now your plick is ready for syncing the Audio with the Slides. Click on Sync audio (or “here” below). NB Breath in, you’re now about to be very quick – before you press on Play-button, read the information to the left (beside your first slide).

When you start, you’ll have to use the arrow-button to “throw” the next slide up to fit in with the recording;o) PS. Most of us have to do this procedure several times before it’s OK to publish.
If it fails, hit the Clear all-button below, and start again. When you’re satisfied, hit the Save & Publish-button below. Within a few seconds you’ll have to hit the OK-button.

D: You will now see/listen to your excellent work. If you’re happy with it, scroll down and copy the embed code (from ThinPlayer) and send it to Sharon (then she’ll publish it in the end of the month – or nearby).
I’ve made an example for you to look upon (my pupils will make one later).

I have one question for everyone: why 'my' Audacity doesn't let me export my file to MP3...and allows me only to WAV. (then I convert it)

Does your Audacity ask for the "Lame.dll-file"? In that case you can download from here:

Permalink Reply by Anna Karidi Pirounaki on February 18, 2009 at 7:59pm: Hey karin,,, audacity isn't a problem...eaaasy can convert it ..no any issue just refered it...My BIG issue now is an application form for a Comenius: Acrobat 9 doesn't allows to save us just print out ...so I have to copy and paste each 'little part' of the 48 pages of the on-line application form of our coordinator in order to make my own copy and then to send it on a CD to my national agency!!
