What shall we do for December's task? What on line tool shall we use? When should we complete the task since we will all be on holiday at different times?
Put your suggestions below and remember to give time for others to place there suggestions on the forum before making your mind up.
This week will be suggestions and next week will be choosing the one for December.
The Smilebox suggestion can easily be altered to something that can be embedded on a website. We frequently use www.slide.com or www.picturetrail.com for embedding slide shows onto blogs and/or websites.
Alright, it is 8pm over in Scotland and going to make a decision by 10 pm - 2 hours left.
From the discussions - Peace seems to be the main word and the use of Animoto or GoogleMaps is the other option. Animoto will not be suitable if we are saying things for each slide as it does not sync and Mixbook is no use as there is no audio. Taking all that you have said here is the option using a new tool - SLIDEBOOM.
a. An Presentation using PowerPoint first:
slide 1 - school name
slide 2 - location
slide 3 - PEACE
slide 4 - LOVE
slide 5 - HOPE
slide 6 - JOY
slide 7 (optional - sing peace song of choice0
b. To record audio for each slide do not use the upload option in PowerPoint but the built in recording tool.
c. Save powerpoint and upload to www.slideboom.com and send me the embedded code.
Examples of a slideboom that I created with student teachers last week can be seen at:
I just tried to view some of your slideboom examples, but my Internet is too slow right now. I'll try from school in the morning.
I don't really know what this means, "To record audio for each slide do not use the upload option in PowerPoint but the built in recording tool", but I assume I'll learn what I need to while doing the December task.
Have a good evening. We're two hours later in Beirut; I'm getting ready to call it a night.
in PowerPoint you can select an audio file you have already created and add to a PowerPoint or you can just record straight into the PowerPoint which means that is it then uploadable with sound. If you attach a sound file it does not go with the upload as the powerpoint is searching for the attached file in your computer.
I like this idea too but I also like the google map ide. Perhaps we can do that in January.
I am happy to try any of the ideas and hopefully I will be able to complete it before our year finishes.
Hi All,
I like the peace , joy, etc idea and either your suggestion Sharon, as above, or the googlemap idea earlier. Thanks for the description of using powerpoint recording tool....wish I'd known about it ages ago....have wrestled with searching for audio files for far too long in the past!! Am really enjoying using googlemap with my class on our climate topic
Bye for now
