My vote will go to the idea with proverbs. I think number four will be great; All for one, and one for all (we're all together in VOTW, and we stand up for each other)
Best regards, Eva
I guess the proverb has my vote too....But if you Google it, look what you find.....It's actually 'One for all and all for one'
This next piece quoted from Wikipedia=
Unus pro omnibus, omnes pro uno is a Latin phrase that means "One for all, all for one" in English. It is known as being the motto of Alexandre Dumas's Three Musketeers and is also the traditional motto of Switzerland.
We'll have to agree on the same order of words otherwise we'll never make sense to each other.
Do you think the message may be a bit short maybe with just one phrase and one picture/photo? Will the phrase be repeated?
It does however reflect our kinship in VOTW as Eva says previously :)
Bye for now
Cathy
I like the proverb idea - although I agree that it is rather short unless repeated. Perhaps we should do all four proverbs - although that would cause problems with places that don't have the same proverbs.
To Cathy: Ah, I thought so too, because it is like that in our language...but I took a look into what was written at the discussion earlier...;o) We better get it the correct way - One for all...
To Lisa: What if we let every child say the proverb to their own picture/illustration - then it would be repeated at lot (a really good chance to listen out the languages) - and every child would be heared and brought out to the world (I know that my children are really happy and proud when they can recognise their own voice among the rest)
I think the all for one and one for all is a good idea too and rather than photos which some schools may not be able to use we could go along with Anna's original idea of using pictures the children create to represent the proverb and upload them to the program she suggested (sorry can't remember what it was) or a similar one that can still have each child say the proverb with their picture.
Regards
Jane
I don't even know if there's an "All for one and one for all..." in Arabic, but I still vote for the idea of the proverbs.
Perhaps:
1) Each child illustrates the proverb and speaks the words on their own slide.
OR
2) Use all four proverbs, illustrating all four and adding voice to all four.
(I don't think it really matters if the same proverb exists in the native language -- there is probably something that comes close in meaning and since we have to use the same words for VOTW, it's a moot point.)
Hi Everyone :)
My children also enjoy hearing and recognising their own individual voices too so I think maybe having 4 to 6 children taking turns to say the phrase with 2 illustrations each would be good. The illustrations could be pictures of incomplete groups with then the missing piece showing in the second pic. So a pic of a box of 5 eggs followed by a box of six eggs with voice over.....or a flower head with a petal missing follwed by the complete flower and voice over....
What do you think?
Photostory would be usable but not new.....but hey let's make it easy this idea generating is hard enough!!!
thanks for your question..
also in Greece we say it like in wikipedia:-)) but I had to think the English version as far English is our communication language here..and this is what they say it : All for one and one for all
I think it doesn't make any sense if you suggest to your kids to say it in 'the opposite'..
I have tried both versions at school and we made oral games with it ..another fun for kids..
